Man bitten by crocodile once owned by Fidel Castro

A man was rushed to hospital after he was bitten by a crocodile which was once owned by Fidel Castro.

The victim reportedly had his arm on the wrong side of some security glass when he was attacked by one of the animals.

The elderly man was attending a party at the Skansen Aquarium in Stockholm when the incident took place.

Party host and animal expert Jonas Wahlström told Aftonbladet: “As I saw him climb up and stretch his hand out I yelled ’stop!’

”What went through my mind was that I had to get the crocodile to let go, there was a lot of blood.

“Nothing like this has ever happened with these crocodiles before, we've had them for more than 40 years.”

Mr Wahlström also said the man was giving a speech at the time of the attack.

A spokesperson for the hospital told Aftonbladet that the man’s condition is stable.

The aquarium owns two crocodiles – Castro and Hillary – which were given to Russian cosmonaut Vladimir Shatalov by Mr Castro in the 1970s.
