Man being kicked to floor and assaulted with knife in 'appalling attack'

A man was kicked to the floor and attacked with a knife in Altrincham.

CCTV footage shows the attack as it unfolded shortly before 5.50pm on Saturday, November 28 last year.

Police say the first victim - a man in his 40s - was kicked to the floor and assaulted with a knife by his attacker.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Another man - a neighbour in his 50s - was also assaulted when he tried to intervene.

The attacker then made off in a silver Mercedes driven by another man.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable David Jarvis of GMP's Trafford district, said: "The victim of this appalling attack has been left with serious injuries and his neighbour, who tried to go the victim's aid has, although fortunately not been left with any lasting physical injuries, has understandably been left distressed.

"The man we would like to speak to enters shot from the right, and I would encourage anyone who may have information about the incident to get in contact."

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and released under investigation.
