Man behind Robin Hood Experience's bid to make 'dream come true' with wedding abroad

The man behind the Robin Hood Experience in Nottingham wants to “make his dream come true” and fly abroad to marry the love of his life.

Adam Greenwood-Sinclair owns and manages the Experience, located near to the castle, and plays the role of Robin Hood for visitors.

He has been separated from his Maid Marian, fiancée Sarah Sinclair, since 2018, when she was denied access back into the country due to having a US passport.

Sarah, originally from the Netherlands, had moved to the UK with her youngest daughter Kris to live with Adam in Nottingham – and was left hundreds of miles away from them both after being stopped at the airport.

While Adam lived with Kris in Nottingham, in a home he had bought for them all to live in, Sarah unsuccessfully applied for a visa twice, costing the pair thousands of pounds.

The couple, who have been together for more than 10 years, now hope to wed abroad in the Netherlands, but the coronavirus pandemic has made this extremely difficult.

The couple have been forced to live apart while they try and arrange a visa for Sarah (eyJpdiI6IkxBZUhiUjZQT05FdGZnYXJnXC9pWmhnPT0iLCJ2YWx1ZSI6InQzUms4WHRcL2llcXQ2R0pmQ0NmYWJzSnhhQ0xOckNOejlCaUtkZ25SSXFmZStDdXZMK0pBTDBwOW9CWDAwTno0IiwibWFjIjoiNmE2YWJlOThlNWIzZTk4YjFlZmI4OGNiMDRiOGJkZWIz)

Sarah said: “As Adam is the sole owner and manager of The Robin Hood Experience, he would have to close his business for his two weeks of quarantine or hire people in to cover the two weeks in which he has to quarantine.

“And since they had to be closed since the coronavirus mess has been happening until July they have missed out on months of income and he cannot afford to cover the costs of hiring people for 14 days or closing the Experience.”

The virus has meant the last time Sarah and Adam saw each other in person was in December last year.

So, the couple now hoping to raise funds to cover the costs of running the Robin Hood Experience while Adam is away tying the knot.

Adam told Nottinghamshire Live: “To be able to make it official would be amazing – it would be a dream come true.

“Once we are married, we would be able to apply for a spousal visa this time.

“We have had lovely responses and messages of support from the people of Nottingham, we are so grateful to know that so many people care about us and wish us well.”

Sarah added: “We adore each other so much and have been through so much together in the last 10 years.

“Back and forth between England and the Netherlands, our long distance relationship, has flourished and bloomed and we love each other more each day and want to finally be able to be together in our home in England.

“Even with everything that has been thrown at us over the past two years, we are still fighting to be together.”

They met online after both attending the Elf Fantasy Fair Haarzuilens in the Netherlands in 2009.

A fundraiser has been set up by their friend Sascha Shax to try and help the happy couple finally get down the aisle.
