Man behind Epernay and Pour House opens new Leeds city centre pub

The man behind former Leeds venues Buca di Pizza, Epernay, The Pour House and Atlas has opened .

Geoff Thornton, working with brother Nick, says his latest venture will go "back to the heart of what a pub offers its community".

Hoist House, in 5 Wellington Place, Leeds, on the corner of Whitehall Road and Northern Street, serves local ales, craft beers and lagers and will also introduce Asian street food from Little Bao Boy in the new year.

The pub is open from 10am-10pm Monday to Saturday.

Geoff said: “My latest venture is all about going back to the heart of what a pub offers its community – a great selection of drinks, tasty bites to enjoy with friends and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

"We’ve set out the venue to put the bar at the heart of the space, surrounded by occasional furniture, comfortable sofas and, when the warmer weather returns, an outside seating area."

Geoff previously owned independent venues Buca di Pizza, Epernay, The Pour House and Atlas.

Wellington Place is also home to food and drink venues Veeno, Sociable Folk and The Good Luck Club.
