Man beaten and robbed at gunpoint while shopping for wife's Mother's Day gift

A pensioner was beaten up and robbed at gunpoint while out shopping for a Mother's Day gift for his wife.

Robert Rodriguez, 88, was attacked by a man who shoved a gun to his stomach and demanded his wallet in New Port Richey, Florida, on Thursday.

He said: "I pretended I didn't understand. Finally, he told me to get out of the car 'give me your keys, give me your keys'.

"He could've shot."

Robert gave the keys to the man and was knocked to the ground. He suffered a bruised elbow when he landed on the pavement.
