Man battling mental disorder ends life by jumping into well in Maharashtra

NAGPUR: A 40-year-old man allegedly killed himself by jumping into a well in Nagpur city of Maharashtra as he was reeling under depression ever since he lost his job several years ago due to some mental disorder, police said on Sunday.

The body of the victim, a resident of Swarna Nagar locality in the city, was found floating in the well this morning, they said.

"The victim had got a government job in 2004 on compassionate grounds following the death of his father who worked in the same office. In 2011, he was admitted to a mental health facility after he suffered from some disorder. After that, he was fired from his job and since then he was under depression," an official of Kapil Nagar police station said.

"The victim might have taken the extreme step as a result of depression. Some local residents found his body floating in water and informed the police," he said, adding that investigation into the death is going on.
