Man 'barricaded' himself in flat and 'set fire' after two women 'attacked'

A MAN "barricaded" himself inside a flat in Cambuslang after two women were "attacked".

Shortly after 4pm on Thursday, January 16, police were alerted to a report of two women allegedly being attacked on Mill Road in the town.

Emergency crews headed to the area and the pair, aged 41 and 16, were rushed to hospital.

The condition of the two women is currently unknown.

Following that, the force said a man then allegedly barricaded himself inside a flat and a fire was set before he left via the balcony.

It is understood armed officers attended the incident.

Meanwhile, during it, police revealed several properties in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

A 34-year-old man has since been arrested in connection with the alleged incident.

An investigation is underway.
