Man banned from mum's house is back behind bars after defying court order again

A Bothwell man banned from his mother’s home is back behind bars after defying the court order for a third time.

Thomas Lambert was just out of jail when he went to the house in Morven Way, looking for money.

Lambert, 41, appeared from custody at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.

He admitted breaching bail conditions by going to his mother’s home during the afternoon of Saturday, September 5.

His lawyer, Ali Murray, said Lambert had served a jail sentence for breaching the order on a previous occasion.

Mr Murray explained: “He was released on Friday and was homeless that night.

“He went to his mum’s house the next day, looking for money.

“She is aged 75 and they have a bizarre relationship. She gave him money.”

Mr Murray stressed no violence had been used against the pensioner, but admitted: “My client must recognise that a court order is in place.”

Sheriff Ray Small told Lambert: “This is the third time you have breached the bail condition. I’m afraid I have no alternative but to return you to custody.”

Lambert had been freed early from prison as the sentence was due to run until October 5.

The sheriff ruled he must complete that sentence and serve a two-month term after that.
