Man 'badly hurt' after teens pelt workers with potatoes in West Dublin

An innocent worker trying to do his job was left "badly hurt" after a gang of youths flung potatoes at him and a colleague.

The idiotic attack happened in Lucan in West Dublin where the men had been working at The Weir before the gang pelted them from above with the spuds.

One man was hurt after being hit in the head and the incident was reported to gardai.

A post on local page Lucan Life said: "At 5.10pm this afternoon two men working at The Weir in Lucan were assaulted by a group of teenagers on bikes who pelted them from above with potatoes.

"Although the teenagers obviously thought this was a great laugh one of the men was badly hurt when he was hit on the head. "It has been reported to the garda.

"If anyone has any information could they please post it here or contact the garda station in Lucan. Thanks."

A garda spokesperson confirmed they were informed saying it happened in the Strawberry Beds area.

They said: "Gardai received a report of a group of youths causing a nuisance at Weir View, Strawberry Beds, Lucan."

The spokesperson added that nobody was seriously hurt.
