A man attempted to end his life after hacking his wife to death at Kizhakkanchery, near here, on Wednesday. Elsy Kochuparambil (58) was found dead in a pool of blood, and her husband, Appachan, alias Varghese, was found hanging in their house.
The police rescued Appachan and admitted him to the District Hospital here. The police said his condition was improving.
Appachan called the police after hacking his wife and said that he would be ending his life soon. When the police reached the house after tracking the number with the help of the cyber wing, Appachan was found hanging. He had slashed his wrist.
The police said the motive for the murder was unclear. An investigation was on.
