Man attacked with weapons in attempted murder bid in Linwood

Police in the Renfrewshire area have launched an appeal for witnesses after an attempted murder bid in Linwood.

The incident, which saw a man assaulted with weapons, took place near a car park on Blackwood Avenue around 3.20pm yesterday afternoon.

The 35-year-old victim was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley for treatment to serious injuries.

Police have confirmed that one male has been arrested in connection with the incident and further enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Sergeant Chris Hughes of Paisley CID, said: "We are treating this incident as an attempted murder.

"One person has been arrested and we are following further positive lines of enquiry.

“However we would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed the attack to come forward."
