Man attacked with blade in serious assault outside Motherwell flats

A 35-year-old man has been attacked with a blade in a serious assault in Motherwell.

A police helicopter, dog unit and armed officers raced to the incident outside McClurg Court at around 6.10pm last night (Friday, May 8).

The victim was rushed to Wishaw General Hospital with a serious injury to his hand.

A 30-year-old man was traced nearby on Airbles Farm Road and taken to Monklands Hospital for treatment. He has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police Scotland are now appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.


Detective Constable Jacqui McCann, of Wishaw CID, said: "We're appealing to anyone who witnessed this or has any information relating to this incident to contact us."

Anyone with any information should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 3288 of 8 May or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
