Man attacked while waiting for a taxi as CCTV issued

Police have released an image of man they believe could help their investigation into a street attack.

Detectives are investigating after the victim was waiting for a taxi in Birkdale when he was approached by a man.

The man started shouting at the 26-year-old and then struck him in the face, leaving him with a large cut.

The incident took place outside Birkers Bar on Liverpool Road just after midnight on Saturday, August 8.

Merseyside Police has now issued a CCTV image of a man the force "would like to speak to as we believe he has information which could assist our investigation".
