Man attacked on Maryhill Road as police appeal for information on blue car

A man has been left with serious facial injuries after he was attacked on Maryhill Road.

Police were called to the junction of Bilsland Drive, Maryhill Road and Queen Margaret Drive yesterday morning around 11.30am where the 53-year-old was seriously assaulted.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses and are looking for information on a blue car carrying up to four men which was seen at the junction.

The victim was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary following the attack.

A Police Scotland statement issued this morning reads: "Officers in Glasgow are appealing for information following a serious assault that happened in the Maryhill Road area of the city on Monday, 8 June.

"A 53-year-old man was assaulted near the junction of Bilsland Drive, Maryhill Road and Queen Margaret Drive around 11.30am. He sustained serious facial injuries and was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

"Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault. In particular they are looking for information on a blue car with up to four men inside that was at the junction at the time of the incident.

"Anyone with information that could help with the investigation is asked to contact Maryhill CID by calling Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1460 of Monday, 8 June, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
