Man attacked in Rathcoole by pair 'armed with hammer and metal bar'

A man has been attacked in Rathcoole by two men whom he reported were armed with a hammer and a metal bar.

Police are investigating the report of an assault in the Camross Park area on Friday, 8 January.

A PSNI spokeswoman said: "At approximately 8.30pm as a man was walking in the Camross Park area near Glas Na Braden Glen he was assaulted by two men who were wearing balaclavas. One of his assailants had a hammer and one had a metal bar. The injured party received injuries to his elbow and hand."

Detective Sergeant Lenaghan said: "I would appeal to anyone who was in the Camross Park or Glas Na Braden Glen area, Rathcoole and witness this incident or anyone who has information that could assist with our enquiries to contact detectives at Antrim on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1771 08/01/21.
