A man was attacked in Liverpool city centre before being rushed to hospital for treatment.
Emergency services were called to Whitechapel, close to the Metquarter, shortly before 8.25pm to reports a man had been injured.
Police and paramedics raced to help the victim before he was taken from the scene in an ambulance.

People in the area have reported to the ECHO that the man had been stabbed but this has not been confirmed by Merseyside Police.
His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed that officers were investigating an attack in the city centre.
In a statement, the force said: "Officers were alerted to an incident on Whitechapel at around 8.25pm.
"It was reported that a man had been assaulted and was injured in the area.
"He has been taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
"Officers are conducting enquiries in the area but the investigation is in its early stages."
Two areas on Whitechapel have since be cordoned off by police.
The first outside a shop and American Pizza Slice. The second has been put in place around the Metquarter.
Forensics officers are now at the scene and witnesses are asked to come forward to police.
