Man attacked in broad daylight as police seal off Dunbartonshire high street

A man has been rushed to hospital following a broad daylight assault in West Dunbartonshire.

Police were called to High Street, Dumbarton on Monday. The alarm was raised at around 5.10pm.

One man, aged 32, was found to have been assaulted at the scene. He was rushed to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

The nature of the man's injuries and his current medical condition were not disclosed by police. No other injuries have been reported at this stage.

As of around 8.30pm on Monday, High Street was still sealed off by police between St Mary's Way and Riverside Lane. Police Scotland confirmed the incident to Glasgow Live on Monday evening.

A spokesman said: “Police received report of a 32-year-old man having been assaulted on High Street in Dumbarton around 5.10pm on Monday, July 18. The victim was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. The road is closed between St Mary’s Way and Riverside Lane.”
