Man attacked by thug wielding a weapon in Renfrew

A brute wearing a grey tracksuit is being hunted after a man was hurt in Renfrew.

The attack happened in broad daylight on Friday afternoon.

Shocked people saw the victim being attacked with some sort of blunt implement.

It took place on Tennant Street in the town around 2.25pm.

The man who was hurt is aged 36 and did not require hospital treatment for his injuries.

Police are seeking the name for the assailant and have launched a witness appeal.

Inspector Damian Kane said: "An altercation took place between the victim and a male in a grey tracksuit.

"We have no further description of him.

"The suspect made off and police attended."

Meanwhile Renfrew officers were also called out to a man causing a disturbance on the main Inchinnan Road.

It happened around 8.30am, also on Friday morning, and a 31-year-old man was arrested for a breach of the peace.

He allegedly became violent during the arrest and two police officers suffered minor hand injuries, which did not require medical attention.

If you can help solve the crime on Tennant Street call Police on 101, quoting incident number KB02560921 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
