Man attacked after dressing up as bride to see secret girlfriend on her wedding day

A man who dressed up as a bride in order to get close to his secret girlfriend on her wedding day was attacked when the ruse was uncovered.

Video shows the unnamed man sneaking into the celebration wearing a traditional bridal outfit along with full make-up and a wig.

It happened in Bhadohi, northern India, with the real bride reportedly set to tie the knot with another man, prompting her love-struck 'Romeo' to take drastic action.

The unnamed man decided his best course of action was to sneak in, but to avoid discovery he dressed up as a woman in the hope he would not be recognised.

His disguise included a veil to hide his face, as well as a purse and sandal.

Unfortunately for him, however, he was caught by guests, who then allegedly proceeded to beat him up.

In a dramatic scene which unfolded in front of stunned guests, the man's wig was ripped from his head to reveal his true identity.

It is believed he was let down by his mannerisms, with people at the celebration seeing through the disguise.

Footage shows the man approaching the woman’s house with two friends on a motorbike.

When he arrived at the property, the he asked to see the bride - which appears to have raised suspicion.

Some of the party can be seen shocked at the discovery while others take matters into their own hands.

Police were informed but the man escaped from the scene before they arrived.

According to local reports the man had friends waiting for him outside the venue, who whisked him away on the motor bike to safety.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
