Man assaults boy, 15, in 'frightening' attempted robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage boy was assaulted in Hamilton.

The 15-year-old victim was walking along Whitehill Road at around 4pm yesterday when he was approached by a man who demanded his phone.

The pair struggled and the suspect ran off.

He is described as white, around 30-years-old, 5ft 8t tall, of slim build. He had a local accent and was wearing a pale blue jacket with dark bottoms.

Detective Constable Gary Milligan, of Cambuslang CID, said: "The victim wasn't injured but it was a frightening experience and we're appealing for any passers-by, including drivers with dash cam footage, to contact us if they have any information about this incident.

"Similarly if anyone has seen someone fitting this description acting suspiciously around this time, please contact us on 101 quoting incident number 2475 of 20 August 2019."
