Man assaulted on Argyle Street: Police cordon off area as victim taken to hospital

A man has been taken to hospital after being assaulted in Glasgow's city centre.

Police arrived at the scene on Argyle Street, near the St Enoch Centre, at around 12.30pm today after the assault had taken place.

Glasgow Live understands officers still remain in place outside H&M, and a section of the city centre street has been cordoned off near Debenhams.

At present there is no more information on the man's condition and officers say there is no wider threat to the public.

They added that enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to a premises on Argyle Street in Glasgow at around 12.30pm on Wednesday, 5 May following an assault. One man has been taken to hospital and officers remain at the scene.

"Enquiries are ongoing and there is no wider threat to the public."
