Man assaulted by gang while cycling to Dublin mosque

A man was rushed to hospital after he was assaulted by a gang while cycling to a Dublin mosque.

The man, in his 40s, was cycling on South Circular Road when he was pounced upon by his attackers on Sunday night.

The attackers fled after worshippers from the nearby mosque, where the man was on his way to, rushed to his aid.

He was taken to St James's Hospital where, thankfully, his injuries are said to not be life threatening.

A garda spokesman said investigations are ongoing.
