A man was assaulted and robbed in broad daylight by a blade-wielding gang.
The frightenting incident took place at 12.30pm on Friday lunchtime in Stevenston.
The 41-year-old was on his way home when he was threatened with a bladed weapon in the Muir Drive area of the town before being assaulted by two males and one female.
He had a quantity of cash stolen and suffered injuries as a result of what has happened.
Detectives are today appealing for information in a bid to trace the trio responsible and have issued descriptions of the suspects.
The first suspect is described as a man in his late 20s, around 5ft 9in tall, of a slim build with short dark hair and a tanned complexion. At the time of the incident he was wearing a full red tracksuit.
The second man is described as 5ft 5in tall, in his late 20s with short brown hair. He was wearing a green baseball cap.
Meanwhile, the female suspect is described as in her early 30s, around 5ft 2in tall, of slim build with dirty brown hair in a ponytail. She was wearing a white bubble jacket and skinny white jeans.
Detective Constable Lee Duncan, of Saltcoats CID, said: "This man was attacked in broad daylight on his way home and has suffered injuries as a result of the incident.
"We are carrying out enquiries in the area and continue to appeal to anyone who was around Muir Drive on Friday afternoon.
"I am particularly keen for a female who stopped and spoke with one of the suspects around the time of incident to contact police.
"I would also appeal to anyone who may have dash-cam or home security footage that could assist with our investigation."
