Man assaulted after cash-stealing gang forcibly enter Meath home

A man was assaulted after a cash-stealing gang forced their way into his home in Meath.

The incident happened on Tuesday in the Moynalty area of Kells at around 11.30am.

The pair called to the home and spoke to the homeowner before pushing their way into the house to look for cash.

The men then fled the scene without taking any items.

The homeowner was assaulted during the incident but his injuries are understood to be non-serious.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardai are investigating an incident that occurred at a residence in Moynalty, Kells, Co Meath on Tuesday, 19th October 2021 at approximately 11.30am.

"Two males forced entry to the residence. The owner of the property was assaulted during the incident; his injuries are understood to be non-serious.

"It is understood no items were taken from the property and both males fled the scene.

"Investigations are ongoing."
