The rise of the ‘manosphere’ and ‘tradwives’ has skewed the internet’s idea of what it means to be a woman and how they should act in relationships. So much so that misogynistic reels like the one user Dea (@theamazingdea253) makes fun of have sadly become commonplace.
Her Facebook Reel began with a video of a man earnestly asking, “Can we bring back the women who rub backs and pack lunches?”
In response to this, Dea uses a filter that superimposes her eyes and mouth on a Greek statue (which seems to be a common theme in her videos), and says, “That hoe went on break and aint came back! Mhm mhm… get someone else to do it.” This was followed by a hearty cackle.
With 120,000 followers, Dea’s Reel quickly went viral, amassing 636,000 views and plenty of commenters, who had choice words for the original man in the video.
“Why do all these men seem to want a mom with benefits?” one commenter wrote, amassing 3,400 likes in turn.
Another top comment, which garnered 1,600 likes, read, “So he expects to have his back rubbed but what is he doing for her?”
“When the men who show up with flowers and a toolbox come back, yes,” a third comment, which amassed 664 likes, read.
Dea didn’t immediately respond to The Mary Sue’s request for comment via email.
What about the original?
As for the original video, this was posted by TikTok user MrWorthyOfLove back in 2022. Several other TikTokers have stitched his video expressing similar sentiments, and needless to say, he is also getting cooked in his own comment section.
Many of the commenters pointed out that what he was really looking for was a motherly figure.
“Y’all will never fail to prove Sigmund Freud right,” one wrote.
“You want a mom,” another added.
“Conclusion: he wants a mommy,” a third said, while a fourth mocked, “Does someone want his mommy?”

Do men really want their mothers in a relationship?
There might be some truth to these TikTok comments after all. During an appearance on the Diary of a CEO podcast, psychologist Dr Gabor Mate notes that there’s an “interesting sexual dynamic” between men and women.
“Men very often unconsciously expect their women to mother them, to give them a mothering that they didn’t fully receive as kids,” he says. “And the women take on that role because they’re acculturated in a society to do that.”
“But then what happens sexually? No healthy guy wants to sleep with his mother. And no healthy woman wants to sleep with her son. So the ardour and the passion kind of drain out because of this unconscious dynamic of women mothering men and men demanding that they do.”
