But this bride-to-be was put in a hostile situation as her boyfriend popped the question at gunpoint.
A video posted to Twitter shows a white car being forced to pull over in the middle of a road.
Suddenly, a group of 'armed officers' grab the couple out of the vehicle, pointing guns at their heads.
As the girlfriend is pressed against the car bonnet, her boyfriend suddenly pulled out a ring box, gets down on his knee and pops the question.
Despite screaming in disbelief, she says yes.
The man puts the ring on her finger and gives her a bouquet of flowers as the others cheer.
The clip has been viewed over two million times on Twitter where web users have deemed it the worst wedding proposal ever.
It is suggested that the bride- and groom-to-be are Russians as some web users noticed the language.
'CC' said: "In what world is a woman so flattered by this she cries and says yes."
'Na O'Neill' wrote: "worse [sic] proposal ever."
Another one questioned: "How on earth does that even considered romantic?"
'Justliv' said: "That would have been a no from me. And a hospital for him."
Other web users suggested the woman could have suffered psychological trauma after the stunt.
