Can a girlfriend be too perfect? I mean, in theory, maybe? But, for one man on the Internet, he’s really worried about his perfect woman. On Reddit, user Frequent_Finance7956 had to turn to r/AskMenAdvice for some sorely needed answers about his girlfriend. She seems a bit too good to be true, according to his ears. But, to the Internet at large, it just seems like this man has stumbled into a delightful woman. And, she probably doesn’t deserve to be used as a test case on the old World Wide Web because her boyfriend is a bit weirded out by how she moves through the world.
Okay, so Mr. Frequent Finance here is dealing with a woman who, by his own admission, is basically perfect. Our girl is beautiful, smart, currently in a PHD program, teaching university students, and constantly has a funny joke at the ready. All of this sounds frankly delightful. Honestly, I just pray she has some sort of very niche topic for the PHD. We would be front row at her dissertation defense, and you just know it would be interesting!
So, why all this hubbub about a woman that seems like most of the ladies I met in my own journeys through academia? Well, maybe this man is just a little insecure? Who really knows. There’s also the idea that maybe, just maybe, Reddit has a penchant for people lying in subreddits like this! At any rate, it got some social media traction.
Asking Reddit: Can a girl be too perfect?

That’s a tough question to answer. In this case, the woman in question seems to be pretty normal. Our poster here seems to be a bit shy, and that might be the source of his problem. If your girlfriend uses humor as a way to defuse situations, then maybe you don’t have to feel the pressure to answer all the time. His response is kind of relatable, but a simple conversation between the two people in the relationship could resolve the tension fairly quickly. As with most of these things, the solution is tied to communication, instead of Reddit.
On Twitter, which has basically devolved into a social media shooting gallery of sorts, once a post like this hits the timeline, everyone feels the need to react. We have to admit, this post from Sam the Night Owl really made me laugh. I might have to work that “my steak is too juicy, my lobster too buttery” into my own personal usage!
Where’s the problem my man?
In the sage words of one Dylan Steman, “I’m struggling to see his problem.” And, we would also have to echo our friend Ladidai who said, “He needs to free her.” Not to mention all the replies who locked in on her being from some place in the world where she experienced war? It’s a lot to process.
Here’s hoping this guy can navigate the situation a little better. And, if not, this wonderful PHD candidate can find her match somewhere else. This is what the Internet was built for folks. People with problems, (that don’t seem like problems?), sharing them with the rest of us.
