Man arrested over 'street brawl' outside Dalry corner shop

A man has been arrested and charged following a brawl outside a corner shop in Edinburgh on Monday evening.

Police rushed to the scene shortly after 10:15pm following a series of frantic calls over a fight on a busy street corner at Caledonian Road and Dalry Road.

A 36-year-old man was arrested after officers responded to reports of a “disturbance” between at least two people.

According to one eyewitness, one man involved in the altercation was “brandishing a weapon”.

Several local residents reported seeing cars parked outside with lights flashing following the incident.

Police have now confirmed one arrest as a result of the brawl.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers were called to a premises in the Dalry Road area of Edinburgh at around 10.15pm on Monday, May 25, following reports of a disturbance.

He added: “We can confirm that a 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, May 26."
