A man has been arrested after an Atomic Kitten singer claimed she was sexually assaulted on a London train.

Natasha Hamilton had tweeted about the “vile” attack, sharing her disgust after a fellow passenger “rubbed against” her.

It happened on a train between London Bridge and Elmstead Woods, and a 46-year-old suspect is now under police investigation.

The man, from Wood Green in north London, was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault following the incident on October 10.

Ms Hamilton, 36, said she was left shaking afterwards. At the time, she tweeted: “This vile excuse of a man just had his penis pushed up against me while on the overground train from London Bridge heading to Elmstead Woods.

“I though [sic] it was a bag until I felt him heavy breathing down my neck. I am appalled and calling the transport police when I get off!”

Ms Hamilton, who hit the top of the charts with Atomic Kitten in the early 2000s, added: “Honesty I am shaking a feel so violated now! But more than anything I am so angry!

“This has to stop happening to people!”

British Transport Police said the man has been released under investigation as “further enquiries continue in relation to this incident”.
