Queensland Police have taken a man into custody after a 64-year-old Palm Island local was found dead in his home.
Emergency services were called to a Creek Road address on the island off Townsville about 9am on Thursday, where the man was located with a serious head injury.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Thursday, police told reporters the deceased male nor the address were known them previously.
"We'll be looking for any evidence whatsoever that will determine what led to the death and what occurred during the death," Detective Acting Inspector Dean Cavanagh said.
The male who has been arrested is assisting police with their inquiries while forensic officers continue to process the crime scene.
