Man arrested over Greenwich murder ‘was known to victim’

A woman stabbed to death in Greenwich was known to a man who has been arrested on suspicion of her murder.

Police were called to a block of flats in Ravine Grove, in Greenwich, at 2.15am on Sunday morning to reports of a seriously injured woman.

Paramedics found the woman, 50, with stab wounds but she died around an hour later at the scene.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a stab wound.

Police say they are still trying to trace family members of the victim as enquiries continue.

A man, 38, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

He remains in custody at a south London police station.

Police said the woman and the man arrested are believed to have been known to each other.
