Man arrested over 'go back to your own country' race rant claim at Glasgow branch of Asda

A man has been arrested over the alleged racial abuse of a woman in an Asda supermarket in Glasgow .

Police Scotland officers were made aware of the incident, in which it's claimed a 38-year-old man is accused of making "racially abusive" comments towards a female customer.

The woman was in the Toryglen supermarket with her two children at the time.

The man, who has since been arrested, allegedly told the woman to "go back to your own country".

The man will appear in court on Monday, April 15 over the alleged incident (Internet Unknown)

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged incident at Asda in Toryglen.

"He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, April 15."

An Asda spokesperson said: “We expect our customers and colleagues to be treated with respect and will not tolerate offensive behaviour in our stores.

"Where necessary to address an issue, colleagues will call the police, which they did on this occasion.”
