Man arrested over car crash which killed man, 60s, near Nenagh, Co Tipperary

A man has been arrested in connection with a car crash which killed a man on Saturday.

The victim, in his 60s, tragically died after the two-vehicle collision at Ballyhiskey, Carrigatoher, Nenagh, Co Tipperary.

He was driving one of the cars at the time of the crash which happened at around 12.50pm on Saturday.

Gardai say the second car involved in the collision failed to remain at the scene.

A spokesman has now said a man, in his 30s, was arrested on Sunday morning in relation to the garda probe into the incident.

He is being detained at Nenagh Garda Station.

The garda spokesman said: "The man was arrested this morning, Sunday, 12 July 2020 and is currently detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Nenagh Garda Station.

"Investigating Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses to this collision to come forward. They are also appealing to road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling on the N7 roadway between Nenagh and Birdhill between 12:30pm and 1:15pm, to make this footage available to Gardaí.
