A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged over a hit and run incident that killed a 45-year-old man in Caboolture, north of Brisbane, over the weekend.

The man from the northern Brisbane suburb of Aspley was charged with manslaughter and driver show callous disregard after he handed himself in to police on Monday.

The man is expected to appear before the Caboolture Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

It is believed he was driving a 4WD at the time of the alleged incident.

Collin Young's body was discovered by a cyclist at the intersection of Porter Road and Beerburrum Road near the Caboolture Show Grounds, at about 7:00am on Saturday.

Officers said initial investigations indicated he was walking near the intersection when he was struck by the vehicle, which was then tracked using CCTV.

The Forensic Crash Unit and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch are investigating the incident.

Police closed off the road between Porter Road and Tuckeroo Drive as a crime scene was declared.

Police have continued to urge anyone with any information to come forward.
