A man has been arrested after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted during a rap concert at the O2 Arena.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were called by venue management at around 8.20pm on Wednesday to the indoor arena in Greenwich, London, during a concert by American rapper Gunna.

A woman, aged in her 20s, was approached from behind by a man who is alleged to have performed a sex act on her.

Officers at the venue arrested a 26-year-old man who had been apprehended by venue staff.

He remains in custody, police said.

In a post on X, the Metropolitan Police said: "The victim is receiving support from specially trained officers.

"The Met is prioritising the safety of women and girls across London.

"Officers continue to work closely with venues to provide awareness training for staff, and we have expanded specialist teams across domestic abuse, stalking and sexual violence to ensure a dedicated response."

A spokesperson for the O2 Arena said: "We are aware of an isolated incident that occurred inside the arena during Wednesday night's event.

"Venue security and police attended promptly, and one individual was arrested.

"The matter is now being handled by the Metropolitan Police. Our priority is always the safety and wellbeing of our guests and we are assisting with their inquiries."
