A 56-year-old man from Chifley was arrested by police on Sunday after allegedly making repeated nuisance calls to triple zero and verbally abusing staff.
The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday, July 13, 2026, after being charged with 10 counts of making vexatious calls to emergency services.
ACT Policing said the man called triple zero but hung up before speaking and when operators called him back to confirm his welfare, he was verbally abusive towards them.
The man was told to stop calling unless it was an emergency but he allegedly continued to make nuisance phone calls to triple zero and 131 444 between Friday and Sunday.
Following investigations, police attended the man's home in Chifley on Sunday morning and arrested him. He will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday.
ACT Policing has reminded the community that it is an offence under ACT and Commonwealth legislation to make a false report to police and to cause police or other emergency service resources to be wasted.
Inappropriate use of the triple zero number can delay emergency responses to those in genuine need.
