Police have charged a Finks outlaw motorcycle gang associate more than two years after Strike Force Raptor North officers seized a pistol, firearms parts and ammunition from a property near Newcastle.

Deon Walters, 21, was granted conditional bail when he faced Maitland local court on Wednesday.

Mr Walters was arrested outside Maitland courthouse on Tuesday over what investigators found in a raid on a Maryland property on May 17, 2017.

During the search, police seized a pistol, two sling shots, ammunition and firearms parts - including a trigger mechanism, a suppressor, a rifle bolt and a shortened barrel.

Each item has been forensically examined.

Police allege Mr Walters is an associate of the Finks outlaw motorcycle gang.

He was charged with possessing an unauthorised weapon, possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm and two counts of possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit.

In court on Wednesday, Magistrate John Chicken ordered the brief of evidence to be served by October 4 and adjourned the matter to October 24.

As part of his bail conditions, Mr Walters will have to report in person to police every day.

Strike Force Raptor North conducts proactive investigations and intelligence-based, high-impact policing operations to prevent and disrupt conflicts, and dismantle any network engaged in serious organised criminal activity impacting Northern NSW.
