Man arrested on weapons charges after late-night disturbance in Wishaw street

A man was arrested by police in Wishaw following a late-night disturbance.

The 26-year-old was picked up by officers following a short foot chase in Rannoch Drive, Pather, at around 11.20pm on May 26.

Police are keen to speak to any locals who were in the area at the time to provide them with more information.

A Police Scotland spokesman told Lanarkshire Live : “Two people were involved in this disturbance with one male being arrested for the alleged possession of an offensive weapon.

“We would appeal to members of the public who may have seen anything or have any information to let the police know.”

Elsewhere, two men aged 23 and 30, were arrested by police for the alleged theft of lead from a building site in Wishaw.

The lead was taken from the site in Meadowhead Road, Craigneuk, on the evening of May 26, causing a three figure sum of damage.

The spokesman added: “We are seeing an increase in lead thefts within the local area and we are appealing to anyone who has seen anything suspicious on building sites to contact us.”

Anyone with information regarding these incidents should contact police on 101.
