Man arrested on suspicion of race offence after swastika flag displayed on rear of property

A man has been arrested after a swastika flag was displayed on a house.

The offensive emblem has since been removed from the property but pictures of the flag have been circulating on social media.

The 55-year-old man was held on suspicion of a racially-aggravated public order offence.

Police confirmed the man was currently in police custody, WalesOnline reports.

A passerby who said they spotted the flag near the A474 flyover in Neath, south Wales, then posted a picture on social media, said: "You don't see something like that often".

Police were spotted visiting a property in a row of terraced homes at around 10am on Thursday, believed to be in connection with the incident.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: "We are aware of images circulating on social media of a flag with a swastika on it being displayed in Neath.

"We would like to reassure you this flag has been removed and a 55-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.

"He is currently in police custody."
