Man arrested on suspicion of murder after woman, 18, falls from building in Liverpool

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder after an 18-year-old woman fell from a building in Liverpool.

Officers were called to an apartment block on Union Street in the city centre at around 10.40pm on Tuesday night (June 1) following reports a woman had fallen from the building.

The woman, aged 18, died at the scene.

A 21-year-old man, who is known to the victim, was arrested on suspicion of murder but detectives say they are keeping an open mind.

Merseyside Police said the death is "unexplained" at this stage and an investigation has been launched.

Detective Inspector Craig Turner said: “We are in the very early stages of an investigation, and would appeal to anyone who has any information at all to come forward.

“Door-to-door and CCTV enquiries are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone with any information to please come forward.

"If you saw or heard any suspicious behaviour in Irwell Chambers or Union Street last night please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 101 quoting incident reference 21000359610 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
