A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a house in Levenshulme.
Police were called to reports of a concern for welfare at a property on Westminster Street at around 8.30pm on Thursday (May 7).
Emergency services attended and a 67-year old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A 40-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of murder.
He remains in custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Benjamin Cottam, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of this woman who tragically lost her life and our specialist officers are continuing to support them at this distressing time.
“Although we have a man in custody, our investigation is very much ongoing, and I would like to stress that our detectives are continuing to work tirelessly to complete their enquiries.
“I would urge anyone with any information that could assist officers in their investigation to please get in touch as soon as possible.”
A police cordon remained in place outside a house on Westminster Street on Friday evening (May 8).
Officers were picture guarding a house.
A police car was also parked up on the road.
