Man arrested on suspicion of importing drugs as £200k of suspected cocaine seized

A 24-year-old has been arrested following the seizure of suspected cocaine with a potential street value of around £200,000.

The man is being questioned on suspicion of offences including the importation of a Class A drug, possession of a Class A drug, being concerned in the supply of Class A drug and possession of criminal property.

He remains in police custody this evening (Sunday, September 6) following his arrest by the PSNI's Organised Crime Branch.

Detective Inspector Shaw said: “We will continue to make Northern Ireland a hostile environment to those involved in drug dealing within our communities. We will seek to identify them, arrest them and bring them before the courts.

“Those involved in drugs criminality seek to line their own pockets at the expense of causing harm to others. They set out to ruin the communities that they live and operate in and they do not care about the damage that they cause, preying on those who are vulnerable.

“We will continue to robustly and proactively pursue those who are intent on damaging our communities by supplying illegal drugs.

“If you have any information about criminality call police on 101, or submit a report online using our non-emergency reporting form via  http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/.   You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at  http://crimestoppers-uk.org/ "
