Man arrested on suspicion of GBH and drug driving after two vehicle collision in County Durham

A man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and drug driving following a collision.

Two vehicles crashed on Genesis Way in Consett, County Durham, on Friday morning. Police were called to the incident, which involved a Ford Ranger and a Alfa Romeo Julietta, just after 8.30am.

One man was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham in Durham with a hip injury.

Another man was arrested by officers on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and drug driving. He currently remains in custody.

The collision led to heavy traffic on the A692 Consett Road during rush hour on Friday morning.

Durham Constabulary said they were called to to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision involving a Ford Ranger and an Alfa Romeo Julietta, in Genesis Way, Consett, just after 8.30am on Friday morning.

A spokesperson for the force said: "One man was taken to University Hospital of North Durham with a hip injury. Another man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and drug driving. He remains in custody."
