Man arrested on suspicion of drug driving as teenager is hospitalised in bike crash

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a 17-year-old was injured in a motorbike crash.

Emergency services were scrambled to the Higher Folds area of Leigh at around 1pm yesterday (June 5).

An air ambulance, two land ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and police were all in attendance following a crash in Carisbrooke Road.

A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital with minor injuries and a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police called June 5 to a report of a collision involving a motorcycle on Carisbrooke Road, Leigh.

"Emergency services attended.

"A boy aged 17 was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

"A man aged 22 was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs."
