Man arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after horror crash in Salford

A man has been arrested after a driver was seriously injured in a crash in Salford.

The smash happened on Trafford Road near Salford Quays just after 9am on Thursday (September 10).

An Audi A3 and a Renault Megane were involved in a collision near the junction with Phoebe Street in Ordsall, police said.

The driver of the Megane, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital, where he remains in serious condition.

The driver in the A3, who is in his 20s, was also taken to hospital. He was later discharged.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He remains in custody for questionin,g GMP said.

Pictures from the scene showed two-badly damaged cars inside the police cordon.

The road remained closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the incident.

It caused congestion in the area around the busy route with diversions in place for traffic heading from the Regent Road roundabout towards the Quays and Old Trafford.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash - or who has any information is asked - to call GMP on 101, quoting incident number 680 of 10/09/20.
