A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman suffered serious injuries in Wigan.
Police were called to reports of an assault in Scot Lane, in the Beech Hill area, earlier this afternoon (March 13).
A 45-year-old woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Officers have confirmed that a 54-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
A GMP spokesman said: "At around 2.05pm on Saturday 13 March 2021, police were called to reports that a woman had been assaulted on Scot Lane in Wigan.
"Officers attended and an 45-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
"He remains in custody for questioning."
