Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after man, 23, shot

A 23-year-old man remains in hospital with 'life-changing injuries' after appearing in hospital with several gunshot wounds.

At around 6.30pm on March 22 officers were called to a report of a shooting on Hoole Road, in Woodchurch, Wirral, at its junction with Ferry Brow Road. A short time later a man arrived at hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

Merseyside Police confirmed that a 28-year-old man from Beechwood was arrested on March 29 on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He has been taken into custody to be interviewed, while further enquiries into the incident continue. Police believe that the offender was driving a dark coloured Ford Fiesta that made off at speed towards Houghton Road, and was later found burnt out on Wildbrook Drive.

The 23-year-old victim remains in hospital with life-changing injuries as police believe it was a 'targeted shooting'.
