Man arrested on suspicion of arson following fire at Bramley tower block

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of arson after a blaze broke out in a seventh-floor flat in a Leeds tower block this morning.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Stanningley, Leeds and Bradford received reports of a fire at Gamble Hill Croft in Bramley shortly before 9am.

They quickly extinguished the fire, which broke out in the living room of one of the flats.

A number of officers from West Yorkshire Police also arrived at the scene, along with an ambulance.

No one was injured in the incident, but a man was arrested on suspicion of arson.

He was taken to hospital as a precaution for suspected smoke inhalation before being discharged. He has since been released under investigation.
