Man arrested in Tallaght after armed robbery at Old Bawn Shopping Centre

A man has been arrested after an armed robbery as a West Dublin Shopping Centre yesterday.

Gardai responded to a robbery at the Old Bawn Shopping Centre near Firhouse in Dublin 24 yesterday where a man had threatened staff with a weapon and stolen cash.

However, all the cash was recovered after a man in his late 30s was arrested on the Kiltipper Road.

The full Garda statement read: "On Thursday 2nd April 2020 at approximately 8.30pm, Gardai responded to reports of a robbery at the Old Bawn Shopping Centre, Old Bawn, Dublin 24.

"It's reported a male armed with what's believed to be a knife entered a supermarket and threatened staff before taking a sum of cash and fleeing the scene. 

"During a follow-up operation on the Kiltipper Road, a man in his late 30s was arrested and is currently being detained at Rathfarnham Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

"All of the cash taken during the robbery was recovered by Gardai.

"Investigations are ongoing."
