Man arrested in relation to fuel theft of over €840 across Dublin and Kildare

A man has been arrested in relation to fuel theft of over €840 from filling stations across Dublin and Kildare.

Gardai caught the man, aged in his late 20s, at his home today in connection to 20 incidents of “drive offs” over the course of two months from February 12 to March 26.

He was taken to Ballymun Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A garda spokesman said: “Gardaí investigating the theft of fuel or 'drive offs' from various filling stations across counties Dublin and Kildare have arrested and charged a man aged in his late 20s.

“On 29/04/2020 Gardaí arrested the man at his home. He was taken to Ballymun Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

“Full admissions were made by the man in relation to 20 incidents of fuel theft with a combined value of €846.51 occurring between 12/02/2019 - 26/04/2020.

“He has since been charged and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice, Court 2, on 30/04/2020 at 10:30am.”
